Bates Consulting and Testifying Expert Dr. Shane Shook will be a featured speaker at an upcoming webinar titled Cybersecurity Threats to Banks and Financial Institutions: What to Know and What to Do, on November 30, 2017 from 12-1 p.m. EST. This complimentary CLE webinar is presented by Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.

The program will address the current state of play in cybersecurity trends and issues. It will examine the evolving nature of attacks and victims, what financial institutions can do to mitigate their cybersecurity risk and how they can effectively respond to a cyberattack, and the legal obligations and potential areas of liability for firms that fail to adopt adequate cybersecurity compliance programs and controls.

Dr.  Shook will discuss the fundamentals of cyber technical risks: eavesdropping, protected information theft and money laundering through accounts takeover, for both securities and commodities markets, as well as direct theft and fraud. He will also address how the primary market risk is actual exchange or OTC trading with stock protected information, both in traded as well as futures, and how this is exercised by hackers to gain market advantages.
