Dieter Bluhm is a Bates Group affiliate expert with an extensive securities industry background who can consult and provide expert witness testimony on complex financial matters involving Foreign Exchange Trading. Mr. Bluhm is based in California.
Mr. Bluhm was the Vice President of Foreign Exchange Trading with Wells Fargo Bank for 14 years, before retiring on December 31, 2010. In this role he traded spot and forward positions of all major and most minor currencies, advised individual customers, corporate clients and department heads on currencies, hedging needs and FX exposures and trained junior staff in all related fields. Mr. Bluhm consistently exceeded profit targets and skillfully managed and advised on introduction of the EUR into foreign exchange markets. He composed and distributed daily money market related topics and analyses on economic and financial impact reports to colleagues and clients, and priced incoming and outgoing currencies for retail and wholesale departments in highly competitive market environments by utilizing electronic marketing tools.
Prior to Wells Fargo, Mr. Bluhm spent two years with the Bank of California as Vice President of Fore Trading for the International Department. He traded and managed all major currencies, advised the bank’s department heads in Forex positions, served customer foreign currencies needs, and traded the bank’s positions through proprietary trading, exceeding annual profit targets.
His tenure as Vice President and Manager of EXCO International (Noonan, Astley & Pearce) spanned 24 years. Mr. Bluhm opened and managed first Foreign Exchange Brokerage Services in California. He developed and managed first successful FX and money broking business with up to 20 employees for over 45 West Coast banking institutions and organized and presided over numerous conventions for large international professional FX traders’ organization.
Mr. Bluhm had an earlier stint with Wells Fargo bank where he was Assistant Vice President for the International Department for nine years. In this role he handled import and export documentation, trade financing, currency conversions and foreign exchange trading, customers’ exchange risk hedging requirements, and managed proprietary trading. He built an active and profitable Trading Desk, and exceeded annual profit targets consistently from year to year. In addition, Mr. Bluhm did a three month study tour of European and Asian markets (Canada, United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Germany, Japan), Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia.
