Director of People and Culture
Josephine Vu is Director of People and Culture at Bates Group, where she uses her Human Resources (HR) experience to lead the firm in developing and executing HR strategy and Bates Group culture initiatives that support both the business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. Along with providing strategic leadership and advice, the Director communicates the needs and plans for HR to executive management and other relevant stakeholders.
Ms. Vu comes to Bates from FoodCorps, Inc., where she led initiatives to ensure internal equity, to increase career path opportunities, education and coaching, and to build supportive culture and employee engagement. Prior to moving to the Portland, OR area, Ms. Vu held HR leadership positions at the American Pharmacists Association and the Atlantic Media Company in Washington, D.C. As HR Associate Director, she focused on recruitment, diversity initiatives, staff development and retention.
Ms. Vu holds a Master’s of Science in Strategic Human Resources Management from Johns Hopkins University.
